Wills - Perth Western Australia

Why would you need a Will?

A Will assists you in ensuring that your estate is distributed as you decide. If you die without a Will, your family may not receive what you intended.

Your Will may need to be reviewed if things in your life change, for example, in the event of marriage, separation or divorce, or if you become involved in a new relationship, or if your financial or business circumstances change.

The Parliament of Western Australia has recently enacted the Wills Amendment Act (WA) to amend the Wills Act (WA) and one of the changes is that a Will is to be considered revoked by the divorce of the testator (unless the Will is made in contemplation of divorce). If you are going through divorce proceedings then you may wish to contact BJE Legal to discuss how this may affect you.

BJE Legal offers very attractively priced simple Wills. However, if your circumstances are more complex (i.e. you have complex contingent gifting provisions, a variety of investments, business interests, properties or you require a Testamentary Trust to be included in your Will) then you may require more detailed advice.

Enduring Power of Attorney

You may also consider when you prepare your Will or at any other time whether you should prepare an enduring power of attorney - this enables you to give another person appointed by you the authority to manage your property and financial affairs if you lose your decision making capacity in the future.
